WHAT IS MY SKIN TYPE?
Just like the perfume floor of a department store, skincare has become a minefield when it comes to finding the best routine for you. But, instead of being bombarded with various conflicting scents du jour, you’re drowning in a river of creams and serums. You’re not sure what you need, so you take it all, resulting in irritated skin and an empty purse.
It’s time to do your research. What skin type are you really? How can you tell? Figure this out and you will find yourself one step closer to buttery smooth Korean skin. Discover the outer you, right here…
Normal
If you think your skin is not too oily and not too dry, you are lucky enough to be graced with the ‘normal’ skin type. You are unlikely to break out and tend to have good circulation. Maintain this lusted-after complexion with our 100% Pure Konjac Facial Sponge. The silky soft Konjac plant fibre gently exfoliates in the most natural way to prevent any damage or tautness.
Dry
Skin feels tight, rough and may have a slightly dull tone. This is because dry skin produces less sebum than normal skin and cannot stay moisturised. It can be very uncomfortable and sometimes leads to eczema or psoriasis. The first thing to do is drink more water to keep up the moisture, for such a simple and readily available remedy, it is something we all find hard to keep up with. Find a loyal moisturiser that works for you, like the classic E45. Then, do a little cleansing with the Red French Clay Konjac Facial Sponge. Red clay is said to even out skin tone and, along with Konjac fibre, aims to buff away dead skin cells without stripping the skin.
Oily
On the other end of the spectrum, oily skin produces too much sebum and leaves a greasy shine on the skin. Pores are enlarged and sometimes those with this skin type can experience random breakouts or are acne prone. Tip: Don’t forget to moisturise, trust us, your skin still needs it. Look for a non-comodogenic product to avoid nasty pore blockages. MAC’s Blot Film is a great (and strangely satisfying) way of blotting away excess oil before going to town on your skin with the Konjac Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sponge. Charcoal absorbs all the bad stuff to reduce the appearance of stubborn spots.
Combination
You have a little bit of everything, all at the same time – not to be confused with changing skin types. Generally, combination skin is defined as an oily t-zone, enlarged pores, and normal to dry cheeks. Get the Konjac Sponge with Green Clay involved in your daily routine. This clay helps tighten pores and naturally draws out impurities. Fight your oily t-zone with a pea-sized amount of REN’s Clarimatte Cleansing Gel; the Konjac Sponge will foam up and make every drop count.
Sensitive
These complexions are easily irritated, delicate and unpredictable. Certain products can cause reactions that leave you red, itchy or raw. Soothe and protect angry skin with the Chamomile infused Konjac Sponge. Pink Clay also does a fantastic job of calming irritations (if you want to switch it up). Stick with water as a cleanser on your sponge the less chemicals and ingredients on your face the better!
But, just to be awkward, the constant changes in our lives mean your skin type can switch rapidly due to unruly weather, lifestyle, age, bad diets, emotions and medication. Recognise the changes, find your new type and update your skincare to match.
